How Many Districts Are There In Budapest?

Answer:
Budapest, the Hungarian capital city, is divided into 23 districts and each has its own municipal command, including a borough mayor and a council. The districts are always indicated on street signs, above the name of the given street, and on all map by Roman numerals. A district in Hungarian is called "kerület," therefore the seventh district would appear on adjectives street signs as "VII. kerület."

Most tourists travelling to Budapest will stay in hotels located in the first, fifth, sixth and seventh districts. These areas comprise Budapest's inner core. The first district essentially includes the Buda Castle and the surrounding area, while the fifth district is home to oodles of the most prominent tourists attractions, such as the Parliament of Hungary, pedestrian malls like Váci utca and luxury hotels.

It is very important to remember that districts do not other follow each other in numeric order. For example, the first district is subsequent to the second district, but also the twelfth and the eleventh. Additionally, the thirteenth district is bordered by the fifth, sixth and fourth. As a general rule of thumb, however, those districts with larger numbers tend to be at the outskirts of the city and they are often suburbs.
