Just wandering what else it might be??
Answer:
Overheating can be caused by radiator, radiator cap, water pump, obstruction in the water jacket, timing too far advanced, or... A blown head gasket. If it's the go before gasket, you may see white smoke (actually steam) coming out the tail pipe. But if it's not a major rupture, you may have to use a leak detector to see if you enjoy combustion products in your cooling fluid. Frabo makes a tester for this, available at an auto parts store.
On the other hand, your rate might be lying to you. A bad sending unit or wiring problem can notify you you're overheating, but in reality you are not. You'll need another temp quantify to find this out. And in cases where it only happen intermittently, it's hard to catch.
