1984 Ford E150 Str 6...Won't Turn Over, Silenoid Or Starter?... Only Get Tatatatatatata...what's Wrong?

Sound as if the commutator is worn out causing the solenoid to not be able to throw the gear out to the flywheel to crank the motor.giving you a rat ta tat tat sounds. Have the starter checked at the local auto parts store see if the armature that throws the gear out to engage the flywheel is woking.
The ticking racket is more usually a low charge on the battery. It is the solenoid that is clicking due to low voltage and is unable to absorb the starter. Take a volt meter to the battery. It should read 12.0 or more with nothing on (no lights, starter, radio). Keep the volt meter on the battery-operated and have someone try cranking the starter. My guess is the voltage will fall below 10.0 volts and that is satisfactory to cause your problem. Jump start it, take it to an Advance Auto Parts or someone who will test your battery-operated, starter and alternator (for free) and determine which has gone bad. It may be the alternator is not charging the battery or the starter is truly shot or it may be the freestyle is unable to keep strength under nouns (starter)
