1992 Dodge Spirit, No Spark & No Gas? Told It Was Computer. Put New One In, Pump Worked&no Start. Pump Stopped Working And No Spark Again! Did I Blow Up The Computer Or What Should I Do Next?
Old computer out & new one in... Fuel pump works and i try to start. No start, no fuel pump now out of order, and no spark like before computer was contained by. Did i blow up the new computer or what would be the next step? Maybe to test the selonoid and or relays or ground or what? Please support you car wizards out there!
Answer:
More than likely the sports car needs a "pip" sensor. The is also called the distributor pick up and generates the signal for the computer to set both the fuel pump and the spark timing.You can test for the pulse near a logic probe (avail at radio shack) or other places. All you are looking for is to see if the sensor is giving off a pulse.
The computer relies on many inputs from sensors to grip the fuel pump and ignition. A buddy has a 94 LHS that was not getting fuel. He started checking around and found that the timing belt had broke. No input from the cam sensor cause the computer to shut off fuel and spark.
Yours may not be the timing belt but it could very well be a loss of input from one of the sensors (cam, crank, and frequent others).
