It begins by sending out a far-reaching which travels towards the ground and tries to draw nutrients from the soil. This is followed by the appearance of the plumule or stem of the plant which travels upwards and will become the stalk of the plant in the future. The radical starts forming roots and the plunule develops leaves. The pip is no more and it has given way to a brand new plant. Simple experiments of placing seed in wet cotton over a period of days will reveal the process of growth.
