What Job Does Bones Do In The Body?

The bones make up the skeletal system in the body and the functions of the bones in the body are:

  • Protection: the bones protect the internals body parts and organs from injuries and wrong. For example, the ribs protect heart and lungs, the skull protects the brain and the vertebrae protect the spinal cord.

  • Support: it provides support to the body other wise we would be all meat and very flabby, we could scarcely stand up.

  • Movement: the muscles are attached to the bones and when the muscles contract, the bones move and bring about body movements.

  • Minerals: The bones also act as a reservoir of minerals and store calcium and phosphorus.

  • Blood cells: bones contain a substance call bone marrow that produces red blood cells for us and replenishes the blood supply.
