What Are Tropical Cyclones?

Answer:

A tropical cyclone is a storm system which is fueled by the heat released when moist air rises and the water mist in it condenses.

Tropical cyclones are known by other terms, such as typhoon, hurricane, tropical storm, cyclonic storm and tropical depression, depending on their location and strength. They are competent to produce strong winds, tornadoes, torrential rain, high breakers and storm surges. Heavy rains and storm surges can produce large amounts of flooding. Despite the fact that the effects of tropical cyclones can be devestating, they can also own beneficial effects by relieving drought.

Tropical cyclones occur in the summer worldwide, when water temperature are warmest. In the North Atlantic, a hurricane season can occur from June 1 to November 30, and sharply peaks from late August through September.

Tropical cyclone hum occurs in late October and ends within May, in the Southern Hemisphere, and activity peaks surrounded by mid-February to early March.

The six factors that appear to be generally required for tropical cyclone formation (though they can occur without these) are:

Water temperatures of at lowest 25 degrees celcius down to a depth of at least 50 m.

Rapid cooling with warmness.

High humidity.

Low wind shear.

Distance from the equator.

A pre-existing system of disturbed weather.
