When you complete a circuit by putting the wire from the positive side of the battery to bottom of bulb, and line from negative side of the battery to side of bulb, you complete the circuit that allow the element surrounded by the bulb to heat up and light. It draws the current form the battery until it expends adjectives of its power. This is basically what you do with a flashlight. You complete the circuit inside the flashlight.
