Is There Any Scientific Reasons For A Zombie Breakout?

Answer:
Evil corporations researching zombie virus strains?   That are released to the public knowing only they hold the antidote?
There are two plausible scientific explanations for zombies.
1.  The Living Zombie: A virus that inhibits highly developed brain function and causes one to hunger for human flesh.  As odd as that sounds Rabies makes you anxiety water so why not want to each flesh?
2. A parasite that is competent to emit electrical pulses to control the hosts movements.  For the parasite to effectively control the host in this manner, the host would hold to be dead so that there wasn't a "battle of wills" of sorts.
2 1/2: The parasite or symbiotic organism could also restart the central stressed out system.  The brain damage that occurs while the body is dead would commentary for the jerky movement, lack of critical thinking, ect.
As with any phenomena, a zombie apocalypse will have a rational, traceable source that (given mankind is competent to survive) will likely be rooted it its mastery of things it ought not know.  Genetic engineering of a vaccine for a MRSA, for example.

One should also be reluctant to rule out the activities of rogue 'mad' scientists and the accidental intrusion of their well-intentioned associates, family or otherwise.

While religion and superstition are bound to cloud and interpret the zombie apocalypse in a more palatable form for mass consumption, the reality will expected be mundane (and relatively useless in containing the spread and accompanying panic.)
