Before you get deployed they should talk to you roughly speaking your options. I am pretty sure all you have to do is call upon the state and they will appoint you a case worker and advise you on what to do. Or just procure a lawyer. My brother gave my sister custody of his some when he got deployed to Iraq so I know it is possible and I don't come up with it took to much work. Good Luck
