Well, first of all be flattered! You are obviously an attractive person - or they wouldn't want to come over contained by the first place!
I don't know why men think that 'lines' will work because, lets face it, its pink that they do! We hear them all the time and never change! There is the odd instance that you will hear something unusual and impress you - but perhaps a guy who uses a line on you isn't someone you'd want to be with. Of course this depends what you're looking for!
So why do they do it? Because they want to confer to you!
Men are just as nervous and apprehensive about approaching women that they similar to as we are about approaching them! This is maybe the easiest way for them to strike up a conversation next to you! A chance for them to notice you, just for that one moment and see if they can impress you.
Don't other dismiss him because of the line. He took a big risk coming over to speak to you, so if you like him, give him the fortune for a real conversation!
I think that one reason why, is that they fairly often work.
As irritating as this may seem to the female population, most men get the impression if you don't ask you don't get.
They really do not want to bother with being too intellectual, or vocally sparing with a potentially intellectually superior mate, and so they go in for flattery of the most unsophisticated kind.
