In Chapter 9 of Genesis, we are told that after the flood, Noah became a farmer and grew a vineyard complete with grapes. He made alcoholic wine with the grapes and became extremely drunk and done up passed out and naked without any kind of covering over himself.
Arriving at the scene, the oldest son, Ham, saw his father lying contained by that despicable naked position. He went outside and told his 2 brothers---his motive is unknown. Together, they took a garment, laid it upon both their shoulders and walked to the rear and covered their naked father without either of the two sons, Shem and Japheth, looking. They turned their face away so that they did not see their father's nakedness.
When Noah awoke and became sober, he realized what Ham have done and he was furious so he cursed Ham. Noah cursed him and declared that him would always be a servant to his brothers; that Shem and Japheth would accept Ham as their servant.
