I don't think it's legal, but if the landlord isn't going to foot his mortgage, you're going to lose your house whether you pay your rent or not. I would start looking for a new place to rent and I probably wouldn't pay my rent to the present proprietor. Not nice, I know....we all have to cover our own a&&es.
