My Landlord Wants To Keep Half Of My Deposit Due To Inconvenience On Her Part. Is This Legal?
I put a deposit down on apt. Did not sign lease. Made other arrangements, told landlord apt not needed. Can she keep my deposit? NY State

That depends how several days passed before you asked for your deposit back? If within 3 days you should be entitled to your monies. If longer, you may not hold signed anything but you "implied" you wanted the property then yes she can keep it as she relied on your association...consider yourself lucky she only kept 1/2.
