I had the same problem a few years ago and the landlord did NOTHING to fix it. It be caused from a leak in the ceiling and eventually it collapsed! It tattered a lot of my clothes and shoes and they still refused to do anything, so I moved out. Mold can be very precarious so I suggest you get something done ASAP.
