How Are Britain's Animal Welfare Laws Changing?
Answer:
Britain's animal welfare laws are changing from the 6th April 2007 and it is the first time in 100 years that they are varying. So what does it mean? Well from the 6th April pet owners are now being told that they hold a duty of care to their animals and there will be tougher sentences.
If anybody is convicted of animal cruelty then the maximum time contained by prison has now increased to 51 weeks and they can be fined up to lb20,000. Quite a hefty sum, and certainly one which will wreak people to stop and think before they do anything. Also the age at which you can purchase a pet have also risen from 12 to 16 where children will be a lot more responsible and the animal is less probable to be found in a rescue home six months down the line.
Comment: I think we hold the best animal welfare laws in the world. It's still not strict enough but I decision other countries would follow our good example. thanks for the information
