I Was Reading About Liquid Solutions When I Came Across Vapour Pressure. Even Though I Could Understand Raoult's Law And Stuff This Vapour Pressure Thing Wasn't Clear Enough. What Is It? How Is It Related To Boiling Point?

Every liquid tries to escape from the liquid state to the vapour state.It is for this defence that when we keep water,in an start beaker, for a few days, the quantity of water decreases and it finally vanish.

Vapour pressure is  property of a liquid which is the measure of its 'ESCAPING tendency'.

Its magnitude depends on the moral fibre of the liquid, the temperature and the pressure. Generally, the comparison of vapour pressures of different liquid is done at the Room Temperature and Pressure
i.e. at 298 kelvin and 1 atmospheric pressure.

As the temperature increases the vapour pressure of a given liquid , at a given pressure, also increases.

Boiling point is that warmth at which, vapour pressure of the liquid becomes equal to the atmospheric
pressure.e.g. When we enunciate that boiling point of water is 100 degrees celsius, it means at that heat, vapour pressure of liquid water become equal to the atmospheric pressure.

Thus, at its boiling point any liquid, readily passes into its vapour state i.e. it boils.

Liquids which own HIGH vapour pressure e.g. Acetone, Alcohol etc. have LOW boiling points.
Where as, those having LOW spray pressure, have HIGH boiling points .e.g. Oils.
