I Have A Huge Tree That Needs Some Of The Roots Cut Out To Fix A Drainage Problem. The Roots Are Approximately 4' From Trunk. It Would Be On Only One Side. Is This Going To Kill The Tree?

Cutting one side of the roots of a hulking tree will not kill it. Cut the roots off and create a barrier. Tree will more than compensate near roots on the other side. Think of having the tree 'Crowned Out', cut approx 2.0m from the top of the tree to stop upward growth, needs less marine, less root growth.
