Why Won't My Home Hot Water Heater Heat The Water?

The flame lights for about 10 seconds, goes out for going on for 10 seconds then repeats the sequence.

Answer:
Seems to be thermostat problem to me. Thermostat tells the boiler to stop heating when the water over heats. Don't put your furnace on reversed polarity situation. Check it out. You can change its mode by swapping the two hot wires on one of the thermostat. If you don't have any idea of electrice wires, better not to touch it. Get an electrician, as plumber wouldn't solve this problem. I am absolute, its thermostat problem.
