A chakra (Sanskrit meaning 'circle'.) is thought to be an area of metaphysical energy residing contained by the body. There are seven chakras believed to be within the human body: 1) Sahasrara or The crown chakra , is said to be the chakra of consciousness its role would be similar to that of the pituitary gland 2) Ajna or The Third eye, Ajna is the chakra of time and awareness and of light. 3) Vishuddha or The throat chakra, 9linkled to the thyroid gland) is said to be related to communication and growth, growth being a form of expression. 4) Anahata or The heart/emotions chakra, is related to love, equilibrium, and well-being. 5) Manipura or The solar plexus chakra, is related to gusto, assimilation and digestion, and is said to correspond to the roles played by the pancreas. 6) Swadhisthana or The sacral chakra, is located in the groin, and is related to emotion, sexuality and creativity. 7) Muladhara or The base or root chakra is related to survival.
A chakra is reputed to be one of the seven colours of the aura. An aura is said to be the joie de vivre which surrounds each person. The colours of each chakra is similar to that of a rainbow, namely, red, ginger, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. They do all hold the full spectrum of light, but one colour is apparently always dominant:
Red is the root chakra which is at the base of the spine.
Orange is the sacral chakra located contained by the pelvis.
Yellow is the solar plexus chakra which is below the sternum and the centre of the solar plexus.
Green is the heart chakra.
Blue is the chakra for the throat.
Indigo is the brow chatra and finally violet is the chakra for the crown of the pave the way.
