Cognac is a type of brandy produced in and near the town of Cognac in France. Cognac can oly be made from Folle Blanche, Ugni Blanc or Colombard grapes and must be distilled twice within copper pots, aged at least 2 1/2 years in oak barrels or it cannot be called cognac. It is 80 proof.
