(18 Divided By 3) Plus=?

I was given this maths equation and I have to fill surrounded by the answer so 18 divided 3 + what = I do not understand how the answer could be 10. There is no answer after the = sign so how do you get 10

Answer:

You said the answer is 10

so the equation should be

18/3 +   x = 10

where 18/3 = 6

so

6 + x = 10

x = 4

If the answer is 12

after the equation should be

18/3 +   x = 12

x= 12 - 6

x = 6

So it depends what you are taking at the right hand side of the equation.
