I Have A 401k Through My Employer. I Am Ready To Retire - See Explanation Below. Can You Help?
I have a 401k with my employer. I am ready to retire, and do not obligation the full balance in the 401k. Can I roll the 401k balance into a ridge IRA and draw a check monthly for the amount of interest which has accrued?
Answer:
I am not a expert in this area but I believe that with an IRA certificate you have to bestow the money alone for the period of the certificate, or be penalized next to loss of interest for early withdrawal.
However, most banks own IRA savings accounts (probably low interest rate) and you may be allowed to withdraw without cost from that type account.
Taxes would have to be paid upon renunciation (if applicable) which the bank will probably withhold automatically.
The above information is based on some things I was told when I have a similar decision to make. There is no guarantee that what I was told is correct.
