Can A Broker Refuse To Release An Agent's License For Any Reason?

I currently work for a Brokerage and I am paid a draw against commission. I want to change my employment to another Broker, but I signed an agreement with my present employer that if I abandon my job with him, I will be liable to repay all the owed draw until that time he will release my license.... I live in Florida. Can a Broker hold my license "hostage" till I pay up?

Answer:
Unfortunately yes, possibly no.  I would have an attorney read ver batim what you signed and i am sure he/she can find a loophole for you to wish employment elsewhere (releasing your license) though i am sure you will still have to re-pay for the draw you have received.
