What Is CABE?

CABE is the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment.  It was established in 1999 and is now a statutory organisation which act as a Government advisor on the built environment.
It is funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sports as well as the Department for Communities and Local Government.
Its aims are to improve the quality of the built environment and thereby reorganize the quality of people's lives.
It does this through running campaigns about architectural design and the use of public spaces.  It carry out a lot of research about buildings, public spaces and how people are artificial by them.
It also tries to improve the skills base of those working in the design process, so that they can provide better buildings.  
It is an unprejudiced organisation, which does not have any particular political affinity or thinking, but is concerned purely with on the way the quality of people's lives through better design.
