If your cat comes to sit near you, or lays next to you when you lie down or sleep, it's a well-mannered indication of acceptance by your cat--they trust you or they'd stay away. Before a cat can like you, they have to trust you not to hurt them. Play comes later--on their own time diary. (I had one cat that I adopted at 6 mos.
