I don't so. I have a hamster I think campbell dwarf. And she is really nice and NEVER EVER bites. They are also friendly. Also they are really active and never acquire fat. Only problem is if you let them out of their cage she will be in motion hide in my room. Lol once I found her under my pile of stuff animals it be hilarous and she doesnt run away anymore
However, dwarf hamster are prone to nipping.
I advise you to draw from syrians, they have to live alon because they kill each other, but they are VERY friendly to humans and NEVER bite. Also, they are greatly good with children as they dont mind being man handle. They also live longer than any other hamster
Not always they have lots of fur that gets matted next to knots. I prefer the little dwarf hamsters
