The Emergency room isn't necessary unless you can't stop the nosebleed within a normal amt. Of time.
Most nosebleeds will closing 20 to 30 minutes for anybody. Just apply some ice to his nose. Around the bridge area. Let him sit up. Don't trade name him lay down or put his head down. It will only cause more bleeding & he may choke from swallowing too much blood.
Calm him down while waiting for it to stop. You can even use an rime pop, if it stops him from being frightened.

If it doesn't subside within a half an hour...please DO, take him to emergency.
Lots of liquid No diary products watch his temperature,see if he will eat pineapple slices,drink hose,for food try soup,good luck and if he gets a fever appropriate him to get medical treatment or if his nose bleeds and you can't stop it or control it,usually ice pack on the bridge of the nose will stop a nose bleed...good luck
